A year has gone by since the World Health Organization announced a World Wide Pandemic due to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. To say the least, we all experienced a challenging season. Yet at POINT Honduras, we can honestly say that God renewed our strength amidst uncertainty and gave us vision. In his name and for his glory, we have started a new year with great energy. We are excited to share our updates with all of you!
This year we have an official enrollment of 700 children. 60 of them are enrolled in our government-accredited kindergartens. 531 are still in need of sponsorship. For $45 a month, you can become a child sponsor. Sponsor Today!
To promote COVID-19 prevention, POINT has given almost 800 face- masks to children and staff members. Every center has also been stocked with cleaning supplies to assure everyone's safety.
From Monday to Friday, we package over 740 meals for our children. At the end of the month, we will have served 44,400 meals. Your support makes this possible, and providing food security is a driving force.
At the end of March 5,400 patients will have been treated at our clinics. Our POINT Honduras clinics are helping decrease the health disparity in our communities.
We have equipped 3 of our 4 centers with a computer, printer, and internet to provide support to our students in their school tasks.
Although in-person classes are still not an option for public schools. We have designed a new schedule and divided our classes into smaller groups to give our children proper school tutoring and kindergarten classes.
We have partnered with 9 public schools near our centers and have donated education zoom licenses for their virtual classes. And have 37 teachers trained in virtual tools to improve the quality of their virtual classes.
Although COVID-19 brought many challenges for church gatherings, both churches (San Juan and Crucitas) are growing. Under strict bio-safety practices, they are gathering and growing in faith.
