At POINT Honduras, we believe that short-term teams are a wonderful tool that the Lord uses to help us with our ministry goals. Some of our most common teams are described below. For more information about how to sign up as an individual, family, church, or college group please reach out!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL TEAMS
Of the more than 2 billion children in the world, most are unreached. There is great urgency to share with children the gospel. The goal of a Vacation Bible School at POINT Honduras is to introduce children to Jesus, to disciple them, and strengthen their faith. The team is encouraged to plan a time to share Bible stories, purposeful games, crafts, and songs. Let us know if this is something you are interested in doing with POINT Honduras.
MEDICAL TEAMS
The financial burden of medicine is considered one of the strongest determinants of healthcare access for the poor. In Honduras, about 1.5 million people do not have access to health services. POINT provides licensed medical professionals with an opportunity to serve in two different ways: POINT clinics and local public hospitals.
We have hosted a Pediatric Surgical Brigade that serves in Tegucigalpa's largest children's hospital, "Hospital Materno Infantil," for three years.
For two years, we have hosted a women's health brigade that provides pap smears and breast exams to mothers of POINT children and women in our neighborhoods. This team has also performed surgeries at the "Hospital San Lorenzo" 2 hours outside Tegucigalpa.
And with the help of a team of nurses, we have been able to give physical exams, parasite and fluoride treatment to all of our POINT children.
CONSTRUCTION TEAMS
Many of the POINT families live in substandard housing. Through the work of short-term mission teams, or churches and businesses willing to donate a house, we can help families build a house that is safe. Since 2015, POINT Honduras has built seven homes.
PASTORAL AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING TEAMS
POINT Honduras has two growing churches and two pastors who desire to plant churches in each POINT location. We seek to help continue training our pastors and leaders so that they can help build others and make disciples. We desire to promote community-engaging fellowship that seeks the lost to empower them through the Gospel.
We believe that every person has been given unique gifts to serve others and bring glory to the Kingdom of God. Short-term teams bring encouragement, support, and equip our local community. Come and serve with us!
