Malnutrition is the single most significant contributor to disease in the world. In Honduras, over 90,000 children are living with chronic malnutrition. This continues to be a problem due to the scarce availability of food, inadequate nutritional practices, and diseases' repercussions.
Knowing that children learn and perform better in school when they are healthy and have food security, Point Honduras developed a feeding program. From Monday till Friday, our 800 enrolled children receive a hot, nutritious, and delicious meal. Our feeding program has proven successful in aiding children overcome nutritional deficits and reach proper weight through physical evaluations made in our clinics.
During emergencies such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, Point also does food drops for the Point children's families and community members who need it. In 2020, we gave out over 3000 food bags for their families and community members.
In 2022, we served 181,200 meals for our enrolled children.
