Point Honduras has 4 centers across the city of Tegucigalpa serving 800 children. The children are given school tutoring by trained teachers, and also served a hot, nutritious meal, but most importantly taught the gospel of Jesus in a loving and nurturing environment.

 

Kindergarten Program

Kindergarten is foundational to a child's development. Studies have proven when a student attends kindergarten, they are equipped with the tools needed to be a lifetime learner. 

 

Two of our centers have fully accredited kindergartens that help children thrive in their early development. Our Kindergarten program is certified by the Honduran government. Our teachers are certified and trained to prepare these children before they enter the Honduran schools for 1st grade.   

 

School Tutoring Program

Honduras shows great disparities in education, it exhibits some of the lowest performances in Latin America. Less than one in ten achieve a milestone goal in reading, math and sciences. At Point Honduras we offer school tutoring to children grades 1st through 6th. Using the national education curriculum, our teachers help the children achieve the needed academic milestones to properly advance to the next school grade and most importantly share the gospel daily.

Public Schools Partnership

​

Because of the preventative regulations of COVID-19, schools in Honduras have closed their buildings for class. Sadly this puts our children's futures on indefinite pause. Although it seems a very distant future for school reopening, education can't remain "on hold."

 

Because of this, POINT started partnerships with nine public schools in Tegucigalpa.  We have donated education zoom licenses to ensure that each school and teachers can have unlimited access to reach as many students as possible. Currently, we also have trained in virtual class 37 teachers who are reaching over 4000 students.

Backpack Program​

 

In Honduras, 1.1 million children from ages 3-17 are currently not enrolled in school. Many end up dropping out because their families can't afford school supplies, uniforms, or backpacks and will send them to work to help their family's finances. 

​

We know that failure to complete the basic cycle of primary school limits future opportunities for the children. Therefore POINT HONDURAS, as an organization that fosters education, created the Backpack Program. Our backpack program has the goal to yearly provide each POINT child a backpack filled with school supplies, school shoes, and uniforms. This guarantees their parent's willingness to keep them in school as costs are highly reduced.
