The year started very busy for POINT Honduras but so very exciting! The Lord has provided for us in amazing ways. We are in awe of His power, providence, and love. We wanted to share how the Lord has been answering prayers and take the opportunity to thank you for all your prayers and support in our behalf.
BACKPACK PROJECT
In Honduras, 1.1 million children from ages 3-17 are currently not enrolled in school. Many end up dropping out because their families can't afford school supplies, uniforms, or backpacks. For two years we haven't been able to have our backpack project but we prayed to the Lord and He answered! He faithfully provided over 680 backpacks filled with school supplies, a uniform, and school shoes for our POINT students. We are so thankful! What a beautiful gift from our Lord to us!
US BOARD VISIT
Members of our US board and friends of the ministry visited in February to serve with and encourage the POINT Honduras staff. Besides helping give out the backpacks and meeting their sponsored children, they served at the municipal dump, shared breakfast with a rehab center and children from the Prepace orphanage.
SURGICAL AND MEDICAL TEAM
We are so blessed to have had our annual medical and surgical brigade. A wonderful team of surgeons and nurses from St. Jude Hospital and LeBonheur Hospital spent a week in Honduras. This year the Hospital Materno Infantil was not allowing any medical brigades to come because their ORs are being remodeled. But we prayed and God answered our prayers. Our team of surgeons was the only brigade allowed for this year! The surgical team performed 10 surgeries. The medical team saw over 400 POINT students and gave them physical exams, fluoride treatment, and antiparasitic treatments.
